Imagine, you're on a Zoom call with a client rattling off requests. They're all magically captured for you while you're intently listening --and there's no awkward meeting bot attendee making the client uncomfortable.
That’s exactly what the new Hoop App for Mac does.
Hoop automatically captures tasks across Slack, email, and meetings. But until now, “meetings” meant Zoom and Google Meet only, and required a dedicated meeting bot. For some teams, the bot was a deal-breaker. Others wanted more flexibility: what about Slack huddles or Microsoft Teams?
So we built an app for macOS that expands the power of Hoop to any audio on your computer, all without inviting a bot to your calls.
So, how does it work?
We made the experience as smooth and intuitive as possible:
- Download & install
Download and install the app. Then log in with your Hoop account, and you’re ready to go. - Automatic calendar sync
Hoop syncs with your calendar when you sign up, so it knows when you have upcoming meetings. When a meeting is about to start, a small notification will appear: “Your daily stand-up is starting. Join and start Hoop?” - Hoop recognizes all audio sources
For impromptu Slack calls or FaceTime chats, Hoop notices the audio and says, “It looks like you’re in a call. Want to capture tasks?” You’re one click away from a complete set of summaries, tasks, and transcripts. - Minimal UI, minimal distractions
The Hoop icon lives quietly in your Mac’s menu bar. The recording window allows you to control when capture happens, and you can tell it's working when it animates slightly. When it’s idle, it’s neutral. You can start or stop Hoop anytime or check to see your upcoming meetings. - Same transcripts & summaries
Just like with our meeting bot, you’ll still get an AI-generated transcript, a summary of key points, and all your tasks automatically added to Hoop. All the power of Hoop—just without the floating ghost in the attendee list.

The bigger picture: All your tasks in one spot

Remember, this is just one aspect of Hoop. We still capture tasks automatically from Slack messages, we still pull tasks from email. We’re simply expanding the surface area of where tasks might come from. If that’s a random phone call, an internal FaceTime, or a meeting recording you decided to replay, Hoop is there, quietly sorting it out.
Benefits of bot-free
1. No more multiple bots or awkward explaining
Plenty of people already have a meeting bot, or simply feel weird seeing a bot pop up on the attendee list. The Hoop app for mac puts you in control and removes the need to explain what that extra attendee is doing in a meeting. There's also no need to remember to let a meeting bot into the meeting to get tasks.
“Some folks were telling me they’d have to rename our meeting bot so other people knew what it was,” says Justin Gallagher, my co-founder. “Now, you don’t have to rename it at all—you can skip the bot completely.”
2. Capture from any platform
Zoom and Google Meet are hugely popular, but they’re not everything. Many of our customers also live in Slack huddles, Microsoft Teams, or even FaceTime. The Hoop Desktop App captures audio tasks from all of them—RingCentral, GoToMeeting, you name it.
We’ve also had beta testers get a little creative:
- Replay a recorded meeting you missed, let Hoop listen, and it’ll still pull out tasks.
- Use Hoop as a quick voice capture tool by just speaking into your mic when you’re not on a call. You can say a task outloud similarly to how you add reminders in Siri, or you can list off a bunch of tasks to be added to Hoop. Hoop will create a neatly organized list of clear tasks out of your stream-of-conciousness ramble.
